When can I apply for my Provisional Driving Licence?
You can apply for your provisional driving licence up to 3 months before your 17th birthday. The easiest way is to apply online, but you can also obtain the relevant for from the Post Office.
Can I start driving lessons before passing my theory test?
Yes, you can, and probably should, as the practical experience will help you understand the questions and answers contained in the theory test. Likewise what you study for the theory test will also be very helpful in your practical lessons.
Will I drive on my first lesson?
Yes. Ideally your first lesson should be for an hour and a half. This will ensure that you get to drive the car.
What do I need to bring with me on my first driving lesson?
On your first driving lesson you will need to bring your provisional driving licence. If you wear glasses or contact lenses please bring them also as we will carry out the DVSA standard eyesight test. You must be able to read (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary) a car number plate made after 1 September 2001 from 20 metres.
How long are your driving lessons?
Lessons are generally either one hour or one and a half hours. A one and a half hour lesson is not only better value but will also give you more time spent actually practicing driving.
How many lessons will I need to pass my test?
There’s no minimum number of lessons you must have or hours you must practise driving. How many lessons you need will depend on how quickly you learn. Lessons will be individually tailored to fit your experience and progress.
When I pass my theory test, how long is it valid for?
Your theory test is valid for 2 years from the date you pass it.
Can I cancel a driving lesson I already have booked?
Yes but if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you may be charged.
